The L family has been VERY busy over the past few weeks. The coming of Fall brings football, festivals, food, and... wow, look at that alliteration! Emerson and I have been doing a lot of travelling lately. Last weekend, the hubs and I went to the PSU game, then I had a Tastefully Simple Open House for my cousin on Sunday. (She earned $95 in freebies PLUS the level 2 hostess incentive!!!) Then I booked it home, and Emerson, hubs, and Musder and I packed up the van and headed to Reading for a Holocaust Conference. The conference was 2 days, and my mother received an award for Best Practices in Teaching the Holocaust. Way to go Mus! We headed home after the conference on Monday, then Tuesday Emme, Mom-Mom and I headed to Mechanicsburg for a professional development day at my school! Whew! I am so glad to be chillaxin this weekend! Emerson is a SUPER traveller and I can't wait until she is older and we can go to Washington DC, New York City, Philly, the beach, and wherever else we decide to venture to!
Challenge Update: The challenge continues! I did make one grocery stock up trip two weeks ago, and I had some coupons to use up yesterday, but otherwise, we are quickly using up what we have. Our 'big' trip of the month was full of savings! I saved over $77 in coupons! (Yes, it was all on stuff we actually use!)
This weekend we decided to just chill. Yesterday we went downtown to the Apple Fest. The food was sooooo good and the vendors offered a great variety of interesting and unique handicrafts. Emerson was way too cute in this hat... she is a total hat girl!
After Apple Harvest, Emme's Meemaw and Peepaw came over to take us out to dinner for my birthday. We went to the Orchard's, and my meal was FLAWLESS! It was absolutely amazing. We took pumpkin cheesecake on the road for dessert and I am still drooling over how good it was!
Today I did a major kitchen cleaning and now I am taking advantage of Emerson actually taking an afternoon nap. Speaking of the lil' Cupcake, I'll now take the opportunity to show off some random pics. Cuz everyone knows she's the most adorable almost 5 month old there is!
Emme doesn't like being on her belly. At all. But... she LOVES her new friend, Violet. Violet was a gift from our friend Theresa, and it is a God send. She is programmed to say Emme's name and I got to pick her favorite things and songs to sing. It's so cool! If you have a wee one in your family, you gotta get Violet or Scout (for little boys)!
When Daddy comes home from work, he is always quick to grab his chica and chill. It's their special time. She won't sit with me like that, oh no. She won't let me sit at all... but Daddy is a different story...
"Whatchu talkin' bout Willis?" She makes the funniest faces!
There is not a doubt in the world that Emme is adored by her Nanny. She is totally spoiled with love.
I'm extremely lucky to have the world's happiest baby. Truly. She rarely fusses, unless something really is wrong. It breaks my heart to hear her cry, and I can't let her cry, because the only time she does is if she has reason to. 99% of the time, this chick has a smile on her face!
Uh oh... has Emme already picked up bad habits from her Uncle Adam??? Uncle Adam is known for having his crack hanging out at every moment. Let's hope she doesn't follow in his ways...
What did I tell ya? Happy kid! I can't believe how strong and big she is getting. This is her 4 month picture. No one can ever believe she is only 4 months! My great-grandmother, Nan-Nan, used to always tell me, "I can't wait til you grow up to see what color your hair is." Now I find myself saying that to Emme. One day it is dark, one day it is light, and most days it has a reddish tint. I'm anxious to see what grows in!
Emme has become a bone fide thumb sucker. I'm waiting for her thumbs to wittle away to nothing, like a lollipop or popsicle.
Spastic. That's all I can say...
Take beads away from a teething baby, and you're asking for trouble. Trust me. You don't want to test it. Things could get ugly.
Yeah, I did say Emme hates being on her stomach. No, I wasn't lying. I caught her in the first few moments of tummy time before she KNEW it was tummy time. When I see this pic, I imagine her saying, "Oh, hey! What's up Mom?" Notice the drool. My shoulders have been wet since September 21st...
I love that Emme has a silly side. She is so hysterical sometimes. We have so much fun together!
Now THIS is the life! Prop me up on a pillow, turn on the game, and let me chill with my friends... ahhhh.... it ain't easy being me...
....especially when you put me on my belly!!!! Have you seen the gut??? Who would want to lay on that?!?! Turn me over, turn me over, turn me over!!! See... I told you she hates it on her stomach! Violet looks happy though.
Thanks for humoring me. I love this chick, and I love seeing her daily changes. Every day brings new sounds, new habits, and new happiness. Two days ago she really found her voice... I have a feeling Cupcake will be babbling and talking nonstop very soon!
Enjoy the Fall y'all! I'll post a yummy recipe soon!
